March 30 – Passing through Nebraska during Sandhill Crane migration was a treat!  In every field we passed there would be a small (or sometimes large) flock of these gorgeous birds.  These were near a small pond behind a truck stop so I was able to sit and watch awhile while David did some small repair to the truck.  While I watched some began to dance!   With the cranes were snow geese and Canada geese and I also saw a new species of duck here.

This is when the birdwatching is good.  When it’s bad is when we’re speeding along on a deadline and I catch sight of a bird I *know* I have not seen before yet we cannot stop to let me see.  That can be very frustrating indeed!
