Jan 30 – I took this picture to show to my friend Dawn, who is interested in how I make my own laundry soap (recipe is easy, one bar of Fels Naptha, grated, 1/2 cup each of Washing Soda and Borax.  Use about 2 tablespoons per load of wash.  It is safe for high efficiency front loaders.)  It is to show the difference between aged soap (the top bar) and new soap (the bottom).  Aged soap is easier to grate as it gets harder.  As soon as I buy a bar (I usually have 3 or 4 in the laundry room at a time), I open the wrapper to let it breathe and age.  I like using this soap as it isn’t perfumed in such a way that it makes me sick.  It has a scent, but it’s a clean scent and never bothers me.
