July 3 – Cadillac had its fireworks this night.  Since we got the kayaks a few years ago, we have been talking about going out on the lake in them to watch.  So far either the weather or David’s schedule has not cooperated.  This year it was absolutely gorgeous and David was home!  So off we went.

The crowds started forming early.  We got there around 7:30 for a fireworks show at 10:30!  And folks were already lining the banks of Lake Cadillac.

We bobbed about for a bit.  When there wasn’t much to do, we both whipped out our phones.  I could almost get wi-fi from the library.  I posted to Facebook and my friend, Candy,  saw it and said she was on the lake too!   So we paddled across to see her.  As the sun began setting, we left so we could claim our spot and not be actively paddling as it got dark.  We didn’t want to get run over by any boaters.

The sunset was incredible.  David said it looked like a huge spider.

It was calm water as the sun left, so we were able to just sit without an anchor.

I love the glow on the water you get with fireworks.  Fireworks over water are double the pleasure.

The finale!  My camera had a little trouble with the darkness at this point.
