July 29 – I had thought this rose had died over the winter as it was quite blackened.  Then some leaves started forming lower down and now, this lovely little rosebud.  Plants amaze me sometimes.  I also have a succulent that had been eaten by deer over the winter (I had NO idea they would eat *that*) and now it has grown from probably two tiny leaves, about the size of pine needles, to a respectable little bush again.  This winter it gets put inside, away from deer.
