Took a nice walk with the dogs this morning.   I finally saw the mama woodpecker.   She’s a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.  Any time I walk by the tree her nest is in I can hear the chicks.  I believe they were newly hatched when I first heard them as their cries were rather soft and whispery.  Now they’re rather loud and boisterous.   And almost constant,  whether mama is at the nest or not.

The nest is in this tree around to the left even with the dark spotting.  She’s in the picture but I only had my phone so you can’t see her.  I like listening to the chicks.

The Ox-eye Daisies are everywhere.  I’m so grateful I took the time to learn my local wildflowers.   That little bit of knowledge makes me happy.

They do so enjoy being dogs.  And isnt the green fabulous?!  Time for a mow, if it will just dry out enough.  We’ve had rain nearly every day for a while.   The days it didn’t rain were, of course,  the

Yoga after.  Tucker decided the mat was a nice place to flop.

Then Hobie joined in.

Phoebe was on the floor with me too.  She gives me room though.

I got these little bottles because of the shape.   I decided later to mix a big batch of bug repelling oil with which to make my own sprays (a combo of citronella,  lemongrass,  rosemary , lavender , geranium,  and a little clove.  Add a bit to a 50/50 mix of water and witch haxel and you have a pretty good bug repellent) and realized this is the perfect bottle for it.   I like to swirl it in the bottle to mix.  I feel all alchemical.

After a couple rainy days I decided to brave the outdoors (i.e. mosquitoes) for a little walkabout.  I’m home for my dental implant surgery (which went well though I remember nothing of it) while David’s out keeping the coffers full.

Getting both dogs to pose is hard.  Phoebe will do it but Tucker is always interested in whatever is off camera.  I did get this cool shot if them, though, in Utah.

Even then, off camera.

I was very happy this morning to find I’m home for the wild strawberries.

Unfortunately Tucker saw me harvesting and realized they are yummy so he started harvesting.   Last fall he was also snarfling blackberries off the vine.  He’d love Washington!

Also on my walk I discovered a nest of what I believe are Flickers.  The parent bird that flew off appeared by size, color and flight to be one.  I’ll be checking it out.  The nest is in a tree trunk with an entry hole maybe an inch and a half across.   I can hear the whispery calls of the hatchlings.  I doubt I’ll be home to see them fledge.  But it makes me wonder how they get out!
